Hi, everyone! I’m Micky Lin. I’m an international student from China, and I’m 20 years old this year. I’m from Guangdong, a beautiful coastal region, and I grew up speaking Cantonese and Mandarin. I’m currently a second-year student at the University of Victoria, majoring in Economics with a minor in Education. I’m so excited to be taking this course!
This semester, I’m living in the beautiful city of Victoria, and I’m planning to graduate in April 2027. I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering as a Chinese language and art teacher at several educational institutions, and I currently work part-time at Dingtea. I absolutely love mathematics! I’m captivated by the diversity of numbers and the way they’re structured. Mathematics is something we can enjoy for the rest of our lives. It’s a subject that will always be there for us. When I’m not working, I love playing badminton and swimming with my friends. I truly believe that taking care of your body is one of the most important things you can do. I exercise every week, and it’s something I really look forward to. I also love sketching anime characters in my spare time. It’s a wonderful way to nurture my artistic imagination.
Over the past year, I’ve been enjoying rock climbing and traveling a lot. Rock climbing is something I’ve always been drawn to, but it’s definitely a challenge. You need to be physically strong and have good hand grip strength, or it can be dangerous. I also tried skiing for the first time, which was a lot of fun! I fell a lot, but I learned how to adapt and keep my balance little by little. I’m really looking forward to this course because I’m hoping it’ll broaden my knowledge even more. I previously took EDC-335, which I found fascinating, and I’m sure EDC-337 will be equally engaging. That’s why I chose this class.
